How to operate the Handi-spread lawn and garden spreader:

1. Make certain setting selector is in closed position.  Push selector toward hopper to close.  Fill hopper with desired material.  Hopper holds approximately 6 lbs. of pelletized fertilizer or 3 lbs. of seed.

2. Adjust selector to the setting most desired for your material.  Determine area to be covered (amount of sq. ft. to be covered).  If granular product requires 5 lbs. per 1,000 sq. ft., you would use a little over 1-1/2 hoppers of material.  Determine sq. ft. of your area by multiplying width x length.

3. Apply product evenly over area, walking at an even pace while turning hand crank steadily.  If you apply a second application, spread at right angle to first.  There are many variables to consider, trial and error works best.

4. The Handi-Spread lawn & Garden Spreader will apply a uniform swath 6' to 12' wide.  Note the path of the material spread and adjust for the return swath to avoid overlapping material.  Too much of certain chemicals can harm vegetation.  Be sure to read manufacturer's instructions on all products used.  The higher the spreader is held, the wider the swath. 

5. Apply all products in accordance with product manufacturer's instructions.
